IP Top highlights the best European interactive content

Amsterdam, 18 September 2000
The IP Top Awards program will recognise the best online content quality in Europe. Online publishers will be awarded for their contributions to the fast-growing information society. Entries are currently being accepted via the online entry form at http://www.iptop.com.

The IP Top contest is focused on 'content', the keyword of today's online industry. Nine awards will be handed out this year in several categories. The overall best publication receives 'The Grand Prize' and the most promising newcomer will be awarded as 'Best Rookie'. Other categories are 'Best News Content', 'The Ireland.com Best Financial Content', 'Best Sports Content', 'Best Corporate Communications Content', 'Best Wireless Content', 'Jury's Special Prize' and 'Public Prize'. Entering as well as judging takes place online, via the IP Top website: http://www.iptop.com. The entry fee is 50 Euro per entry. Entries must be received by 1:00pm (CET) on Friday 6 October 2000.

A sophisticated decision-making software tool, called t.o.p.GRID , will be used to review the Awards entries. This tool enables the judges to compare the entered publications on elements like e.g. ‘user-friendliness’, ‘speed’ and ‘design’. In addition to the Awards program, IP Top is also becoming the standard of content excellence in Europe. This means online publishers can measure themselves against their opponents. A large searchable directory will be built, listing the top of the European interactive content industry. Entering this directory is free for every online content publisher in Europe.

The IP Top Awards Ceremony will take place on the evening of 16 November 2000 during the first Content Summit (http://www.contentsummit.com), a range of events about the content industry. At the Ceremony a printed shortlist will be handed out, presenting statistics about the top ten in every content category. Former winners of the IP Top Awards include interactive newspaper ‘The Irish Times’ , comparison shopping service Zoom and the corporate website of Novo Nordisk .
