Guardian Unlimited big winner at IP Top Awards 2000
Zurich - 16 November 2000 - Top European content executives were gathered at the Hochspannungslabor in Zurich for the announcement of the IP Top Awards winners.
Guardian Unlimited (www.guardianunlimited.co.uk) is the big winner this year. The jury choose this UK-based online newspaper as the best overall publication (Grand Prize) as well as ‘Best News Content’. Other winners include DM Online (GER) as ‘Ireland.com Best Financial Content’, Manchester Airport (UK) as ‘Best Corporate Communications Content’, Sport1 (GER) ‘Best Sports Content’, de Digitale Basisschool (NL) as ‘Best Rookie’ and p45 received the ‘Jury’s Special Prize’. The award in the category ‘Best Wireless Content’ was not handed out because the quality of the European Wireless publications is not high enough to fit into the criteria the jury choose. For more details about the winning publications and the second and third place, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the shortlisted entries, please visit the IP Top website at http://www.iptop.com.
In the first round of judging, 58 publications were selected. For the second judging round the judges used a sophisticated judging tool, called t.o.p.GRID (http://www.topgrid.com). The pre-selected publications were compared on elements such as ‘speed’, ‘user-friendliness’ and ‘design’. The final decision about the winners was made during a jury meeting on 14 November in Zurich. The meeting was moderated by chairman of the jury Gard Jenssen, VP Product Management of Kelkoo.com.
